Research into brand ID

15/09/15

What is brand ID?

Brand identity is composed of the logo, name, tone, tagline and typeface and are created by a business to reflect the value the company is trying to bring to the market and to appeal to the customers who will be buying the product.

Logo:
-A symbol or small design that is used to identify a product by a company.

Name:
-The name of the product.

Tone:
-The colours used and how they harmonise.

Tagline:
-A tagline is a slogan or catchphrase that is used when advertising a product.

Typeface:
-The typeface is a particular type of font used throughout a product.

Idea's for Brand ID:

My product is a type of tea that offers many different health benefits depending on the type of tea consumed. It comes in different flavours, each of which reflect the tea's benefits. It is a healthy tea.
Since my product is healthy, I want the brand ID to reflect that.

My product is called Revitea. It is called this because I want to promote the health benefits, such as that it revitalises upon consummation, as well as make it more obvious that it is a tea. I like the way that it sounds as it is easy to say, and so makes it more memorable.

(Experimentation with different logo designs, undecided as to which I'll use)
The logo will be clear and elegant, and I want to include some leaves around the logo somewhere so as to make it more obvious that the product is tea.

I want the colours of the packaging to represent the flavours of the tea, as well as harmonise, however I may just pick on main colour and have any other colours as small details.

I want the typeface for my product to be simple and clear so that it doesn't overcrowd my design.

The red squares = maybe
The green square = preferred/favourite

For my design, I want it to be light coloured and smile rather then bold and over crowded. To achieve this effect, I want to use images of ink and paint droplets in water, or watercolour drops on paper. The reason behind this is because I want to simulate the colour of the tea mixing in with water.

I like the idea of dropping ink into water and taking a picture because it relates to when you put a tea bag in water and is also something that is uncontrollable and therefore more unique.

I like the idea of merging more than one colour when dropping ink into water because the result can either be really nice to look at or unappealing, once again, the result is uncontrolled.

These images are really pretty yet are too bright, but I like the concept of merging multiple colours together and seeing what happens.

I like the idea of dropping watered down paints onto paper because it offers more control and is also a lot more practical to do. It would allow me to test which colour combinations worked together well an which don't. overall it would be a lot more controlled.

Atfter initial experiment, I could also move onto experimenting with shapes that I may want to use, for example, if I were creating something with the flavour of apple, I could create an apple shape.
