Mock FMP

Mock FMP

Final piece and evaluation

03/03/16

For my final piece, I decided to incorporate fashion photography and makeup into my work for fashion illustration and floristry.

Rather than using actual flowers, I decided to create makeup based off of flowers and using bright colours against a plain background.

The aim of these two final pieces was to show the beginning of a new interest in fashion photography. Based off of numerous makeup designs from people such as Eric Madigan Heck and Ben Hassett, who both use simplicity and bright colours within their photography.
The photographs were very simple and are very slightly edited so that the complexion of the skin is smooth, much like in the photo's you see in most magazines.

This image had slightly more editing than the other because of how the white face paint had actually settled onto her face during the application process. It was a lot harder to smooth it out than on the other photo, however, I still feel like it isn't overdone to the point that the person is no longer recognizable. So while it is edited, there is no drastic change done to the actual person within the image, and in comparison to the images seen in media, is still almost natural and is still distinguishable as she is without the makeup.

As with the previous image, this is also slightly edited so as to remove some of the patchy tones from the face paint and to also neaten it up a little bit. None of the colours within the images and the one above are edited, so it is still relatively close to the original.

I decided to take these photos as I did so that I could properly show the bright colours on the face. I also did it against a white background that that I had nothing else to take attention away from the bright colours.
Overall, I would say that it turned out well and also allowed me to decide on what path to follow in terms of improvement and development within further work

Illustration Piece

Composed of an old photo, some illustrations of flowers and a photo of some of my earlier idea development, I made this image because I wanted to expand my project away from just photography, and incorporate illustration back into it. It has both elements of fashion in it, since the material draped around the model is something I was working on at the time, and because the flowers take me back to the roots of what I was hoping to achieve for this project.

I like the composition of this image, since there is an element of symmetry because of the placement of the flower drawings, but also because of the actual background I used for the image, which I think fits the clothes the model was wearing at the time.

From creating this image, it has given me some ideas for my actual FMP, and so I definitely will be extending the idea onward, however will be developing it.
