The Frank Bobbins institute
Pull, aim, squeeze, sweep exhibition, Worksop
10/9/14
I have just returned from a gallery exhibition in which there were many different variety's of artwork and sculptures.
The gallery offered an extensive and impressive range of artwork created by many different individuals each striving to achieve a certain 'Wow factor' that would please all of those who looked upon their work. Each piece, while highly in depth, had no significant meaning and were all created for pure entertainment.
The pieces extended from rather expressive and abstract, plain and simple and thought provoking sculptures, there were also a few, rather strange, videos.
The atmosphere within the gallery itself exuded confidence and a playful aura that invited you in and while at a first glance the gallery only seemed to consist of a couple of rooms, at further examination it sprawled out into an adventure of colour, sound and randomness.
Some of the pieces, while rather intriguing in it's own fashion did not command my attention as fully as other pieces; That is only natural, however. Other pieces I found gleefully captivating.
The gallery contained many different artwork which, while on their own could've been quite boring, surrounded by others of the same random nature were pulled together nicely and created an explosion of colour and weirdness.
Contemplation:
The wide variety of pieces and the expressive nature of each individual piece showed me how something doesn't have to necessarily be neat to be worthy of being part of an international exhibition, but can be as random as I please as long as it is created with quality and heart.
Picture perfect is far out of the question where these artists were concerned, in fact, they seemingly couldn't care less. And I loved it.
