Putting pieces together
09/06/16
During the next couple of weeks, I will start to put things within my exhibition space to see how they look so that I have the time to move them around and switch them out with other things if I dislike them.
The first piece I put outside was built on something that was already there.
Just outside the entrance to the art building were two breeze blocks, which I decided to use for one of my pieces since I had collected a lot of bricks and stones that could be used. I piled them together so that the top of the pile was flat so that something else I had made could be put on top.
I had previously filled a picture frame with old and broken earphones that I had collected off of other people. I made the piece so that the actual earbuds hang out of the picture frame and so that the majority of the wire was inside the glass. the earbuds that hung out I then draped over the stones, which I feel brought the piece together rather than just using the stones as a platform to display something on.

The next piece was made up of the plastic sheeting that I had pulled out of my exhibition area while cleaning it up a little bit. At first I had intended to clean it off and hang it, as it was covered with dirt and dead leaves, so that I could then throw paint at it, or have people walking around the exhibition throwing paint at it, but after watching a presentation by the foundation year, I changed my mind and decided to keep it as it was.
I liked the idea of using a small space on the way to my exhibition space to present it in, and rather than hanging it, I thought about piling it up in a way that it filled a lot of space.
Once I had laid out the sheeting, I just watered down some paint and threw it over the sheets, taking care to get an even distribution of colour
The two different sheets that I covered had different colours of paint of them, which I left to dry.
Once the sheets were reasonably dry, I moved them into the space I had chosen to present them in, but they don't take up a lot of space.
I feel that because they are piled up, the colours I used look a lot different, which starts to bring the two separate pieces together.
this is one of the pieces that I want the weather to take affect on and change over time.
