Mock FMP
Flower Bombs
11/02/16
Flower bombs are created using a material that is biodegradable. you put the seeds within the material and then plant it, and because the material breaks down within the ground, the plants then grow out of it. alternatively, you could hand the flower bomb, and the plants would just sprout out of it, hence creating a spherical hanger.
For my Mock FMP final piece, I am doing a photo shoot, and to incorporate the floristry side of my idea into it, I want to take inspiration from flower bombs, and create a headdress that, when finished with, I can plant into the ground so that it will grow, and will be completely safe for the environment.
To do this, I will be using some biodegradable containers that once held printer cartridges, and will be planting some seeds into them, letting them grow and then placing them within the photo shoot for the models to wear, whether then have grown or are still growing.
Flower Bulbs take around 15 weeks, depending on the type of bulb, to grow and have to be within 35 to 45 Fahrenheit (1 to 7 degrees celcius) but will start sprouting after 1 to 3 weeks, and so are somewhat unsuitable for the photo shoot, however, I can still plant them and document them as a side project, while still incorporating them as headdresses, or incorporating the empty cartridges alone as headdresses. Seeds take 4 to 7 days, however sometimes take 3 to 4 weeks. Seeds are more suitable for my project.
