Psychedelic Poster Design research

15/03/16

After creatig numerous typographical poster designs, I wanted to experiment more with the idea for my self initiated design.

My self initiated design revolves around using brightly painted wood, and then 'stenciling' a design over the top using colours that would stand out against the multi-coloured background.
For the stencil component, I like the idea of using a psychedelic typography design that it set into a small space so that it changed the shape of the words.

As research, I decided to look into some band logos that I know of that are similar in terms of shape and font to what I want to create for my idea. Overall, I was looking for bold and block coloured font that wasn't very clear and took some focus to actually decipher what the word reads.

I like this logo because it is set into a cramped space, and yet is very bold and clear because of the font used and the colour.

This design is very unlear at first but begin to make sense after looking at it for a while. I also like the shape of the logo design

I like this design because, once again, it is set in a specific shape and contains various bold colours that stand out afainst each other but work well together. I also like it because the shape of the skull in the middle fo the font also effected how the font looked as an outcome.

As well as looking at psychedelic style band logos, I also looked at psychedelic typography, since The style and the colours used really intrigued me.

Because my main topic would be fashion, I liked this design because of the focus on the hair of the person within the design. I liked the colours, however, I would change them to what I feel would be a good combination so that the design would be brighter and lighter on the eyes.

I like this design because it reminds me of the artist Alphonse Muccha, mainly because the design of the woman in this piece is very much like his own designs. I like the muted colours used in this design because they go weell together without contrasting or being to bright. I also like how the text was made to mimic smoke

I like this design because it uses very few colours, and the colours used contrast against each other and are very bright. The orange used makes it look a little unclear, however the font usedd clears it up a little bit. I like how the design is used to mimic hair, whilst being very neat and structured.

This design also reminds me of the works done by Alphonse Muccha because of the style of the hair in this design. I like how the orange and the pinky red are similar in colour and how any components of the design that needed to have more focus are of a completely different colour, so that it stands out more.

I like this design because there isn't a lot of empty space and because of the colours that have been used, which are all very bright. I like that there is a traditional sketch mixed in with the more structured components.
